The beginning of the artistic programme
“On the edges of fiction” is marked by eight new
exhibitions and by dialogues with the collections.
The traditions of the people of Cabinda in José de
Guimarães’ “African Alphabet”. Transmission and
emancipation in African “maternities”, and in the work
of Yasmin Thayná, Maria Amélia Coutinho and Carla
Cruz. Sarah Maldoror’s cinema, in short-circuit with the
Masks Room. “Cosmic Tones”, by Francisca Carvalho.
Neon letters and deconstruction of the sign, by José de
Guimarães. The truths and fictions of the “past”, with
Rodrigo Hernández. A theatre of unusual characters, by
Fernão Cruz. The myth machine, with Horácio Frutuoso,
José de Guimarães, Kiluanji Kia Henda, Manoel de
Oliveira and Anna Francheschini. A colossus inside the
museum, with twelve artists, from various countries.
