The question is more relevant than ever, in view of the current context. Moreover, the process of returning to the body and rethinking our relationship with it, is a question that has concerned us with greater intensity over recent years.

To continue this journey through a new axis, we have chosen two points on which this year’s edition is based: experimentation and power. We have chosen the former in view of the need to discover new forms of involvement (inside and outside) in the relationship with the body, and the latter in view of the way that the body is affected.

The programme presents a set of proposals whose configuration brings us to an idea of a journey between the figurative and the abstract, in which the highlight is a work by the artistic duo, Sofia Dias & Vítor Roriz.

If we can sense the power, i.e. if we are affected by the works with an indelible signature (Maguy Marin, Peeping Tom), we will also be moved by other exercises of experimentation, that reveal themselves from the inside (Flora Détraz, Anne-Mareike Hess), complemented by other performances, that begin to form a notable body of work (Dançando com a Diferença, João dos Santos Martins and Joana von Mayer Trindade & Hugo Calhim Cristóvão).

In this edition, the festival’s digital body will also be developed in greater complementarity with its physical dimension, which will expand the experience of this new encounter.

Starting with the disquieting question raised by Deleuze, we can give him, it should be said, one of the many possible answers:

“The structure of a body is the composition of its relationship. What a body can do is based on the nature and limits of its power to be affected.”

Let this affectation, therefore, be an increase in the power of the senses.
