The jazz workshops are unique opportunities to experience creative collaboration with highly skilled musicians in one of the most exciting contexts in the contemporary jazz scene. As with the jam sessions, these workshops will be led by the musicians in residence who have travelled from the United States specifically on the invitation of Festival, staying in Guimarães for two weeks.
This year, the workshops will be given by Jeff Lederer, innovator on the saxophone and clarinet as well as heterodox, and Joe Fiedler, one of today’s most prominent trombone performers in the US, with an impressive career spanning more than 20 years. Jeff Lederer and Joe Fiedler will be joined by vocalist and New York native Mary LaRose, by the young bass player Nick Dunston, and by renowned drummer and composer George Schuller.
