This year, the BIG Career Award is awarded to Cristina Reis (Lisbon, 1945) who for forty years, worked as a set designer, costume designer, designer and, occasionally, director of one of Portugal’s most prestigious theatre companies, Teatro da Cornucopia. The company’s success was her success. The intelligence and coherence of the repertoire multiplied through the company’s set designs and costumes. The true theatre school that formed generations of actors, also formed her plastic work. Together with Luís Miguel Cintra and Jorge Silva Melo, she developed, with extreme dedication and complicity, a unique work in the fields of set design and graphic communication.
