“Imaginary Friends” is a performance-film in which members of the public are invited to watch a film being screened, during the editing

phase, for which sound effects are being added live in a foley studio*. A dilettante director and three nonprofessional foley performers

transform the film into a musical score. While the performers’ gestures literally and obsessively seek out the noises that move the things and beings in the film, we see the illusion being dismantled, laying bare the mechanisms of the artifice.

The director takes advantage of the opportunity to play with different possibilities, experimenting with narrations, which oscillate between the world told in small and playful stories and the world commented through outbursts of a restless editor.
