THURSDAY JUNE 6 TO SATURDAY, JUNE 14
Hipertext
Perhaps one day the murderous silence will come to an end. “Hypertext” brings artists into dialogue with one another through an imagined written correspondence, inspired by a performance they attended during the Festivais Gil Vicente.
It opens doors to other worlds, other ways of seeing, at a time when writing about performances beyond program blurbs and artistic statements is increasingly rare. It’s not criticism, and it may not even be mere commentary; it can also be a departure point to somewhere else entirely. It’s people writing to people about something they shared—at some remove—and about what it stirred in them, committing themselves to that act.
In this case, twelve voices from the Portuguese theatre scene will write in response to the performances taking place in Guimarães from June 5 to 14. Fingers crossed that this might become a habit.
