Carnación
Carnación is a powerful performance created by Spanish choreographer and dancer Rocío Molina in collaboration with singer Niño de Elche. Featuring three live musicians and the participation of the BJazz Choir — a local artistic collective joining this international production — the piece marks the 20th anniversary of Centro Cultural Vila Flor.
An intense and visceral work, Carnación explores desire in its most carnal form, between the human and the sacred, the spiritual and the animal. Rocío Molina and Niño de Elche — two major figures of flamenco’s new generation — invite the audience to dive into a deep inquiry of the body and its ability to conjure images of a past we cannot fully grasp. In that attempt, both in its carnal and transcendental dimensions, we uncover two sides of the same coin. For between sweetness and bitterness, fullness and emptiness, desire reminds us of the profound vulnerability of the human condition.
