SUNDAY 21 SEPTEMBER, 5:00 PM
Atlas Guimarães
Atlas is a performance that brings together 100 people on stage. One hundred people from the Guimarães area who responded to an open call and who, together, star in the show that closes the 20th anniversary celebration of CCVF.
In this work, Ana Borralho and João Galante seek to build a landscape of people affirming their place in society — both individually and collectively. This is how a kind of atlas is created, a map of togetherness and the social fabric of Guimarães. A silent revolution.
The performative project Atlas is born from the conviction that art plays an active role in society — as Joseph Beuys argued with his ideas that “everyone is an artist” and “we are the revolution,” imagining the notion of social sculpture. It is a work motivated by the belief that art must play an active role in society. To unite art and life.
