Bright Horses
Bright Horses is a piece for six performers—three pairs of twin siblings—that uses internal family dynamics to critically explore competition in today’s capitalist society. Drawing on the real experiences of the cast, the performance unfolds through three choreographic dialogues between siblings navigating territories of conflict, aggression, grief, farewell, and affection. It illustrates the complexity of family relationships as a microcosm of broader social dynamics. Using intimacy as a method of resistance, Bright Horses seeks to invert the logic of competition prevalent in contemporary society.
Bright Horses, by Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares, was one of the winning projects of the 3rd edition of Projeto CASA, an initiative by O Espaço do Tempo, A Oficina / Centro Cultural Vila Flor, and Cineteatro Louletano aimed at encouraging experimentation and the emergence of new stage languages, supporting the renewal of the national artistic fabric.
