Projeto Orquestra de Jazz da ESMAE / Guimarães Jazz

The partnership between Guimarães Jazz and ESMAE, unanimously regarded as a leading institution for jazz education in Portugal, has established itself over the years as one of the festival’s cornerstone projects, offering its audience numerous moments of exceptional musical quality. Initiated in its current form in 2012, this project continues this year with a residency and collaborative work between the students and members of the ESMAE Orchestra and a group of international musicians recognized for their significant contributions to the jazz field.
In 2025, this residency will be collectively led by the members of the Alex Hitchcock Quintet, all highly skilled instrumentalists: British saxophonist Alex Hitchcock; trumpeter Dave Adewumi; multi-instrumentalist Will Barry; bassist Ben Tiberio; and, finally, Franco-Brazilian percussionist Ananda Brandão.
