When the Taciturn Comes from Threshold to Threshold of the Fragile Present invokes the Mahavydias, fierce goddesses of impure wisdom that both hurt and laugh, Fernando Pessoa deliriously wandering “East to the east of the East,” Camilo Pessanha exhaling melancholy among linen sheets, Al Berto distilling fear into poetic ether, Paul Celan summoning the “Song of a Lady in the Shadow.”
Drawing on philosophical concepts, the choreographic duo Joana von Mayer Trindade & Hugo Calhim Cristóvão confronts the fragile emptiness of the now, the eternal conflict between past, present, and future, which — from crossroads to crossroads — challenges and excites finitude. The dance unfolds between thresholds — between being and non-being, desire and emptiness, life and death — with transience as a beloved, shattered flesh revealing the beauty of chaos that never returns. From threshold to threshold, the dance creates unrepeatable moments, moments that cannot be canceled by terror, transforming apocalyptic urgency into survival.
