Há qualquer coisa prestes a acontecer
We began by isolating a line from a song, as one might isolate, in a laboratory, an essential particle in order to illuminate the complexity of the whole. The song is by José Mário Branco, titled Inquietação (Restlessness), and the line is this: “There is always something about to happen.” Victor Hugo Pontes’s choreography draws on all the senses to create a work that claims absolute freedom, transforming a group of naked bodies into an irrepressible and contagious collective physical mass. A stripped-down and open body of dancers, ready to question everything that moves us, frightens us, threatens us, transforms us, constrains us, and, above all, sets us free.
In “Há qualquer coisa prestes a acontecer” (“Something Is About to Happen”), the body is the symbol of this greater freedom, the central sign on stage. Because “inside, there is nothing but restlessness, restlessness.”
