The Portuguese Discovery - Summer of Hate
Summer of Hate is a neo-psychedelic rock and shoegaze project/band from Porto/Espinho, Portugal. Their music blends elements of shoegazing, post-rock, noise pop, drone, 1980s British post-punk, 1960s psychedelia, and even influences from global music and Middle Eastern folk, creating dense, textured walls of sound with simple yet captivating melodies.
In 2022, they released their debut studio album Love Is Dead! Long Live Love! with the support of Fundação GDA, drawing attention from the Portuguese alternative scene.
In 2026, Blood & Honey was released, a double album exploring two contrasting sides — Blood, more experimental and rooted in shoegaze textures and ecumenical rhythms; and Honey, which expands their pop/psychedelic side with touches of britpop and slowcore — consolidating their reputation as one of the most original projects in the Portuguese psychedelic scene.
