FRIDAY 10 APRIL, 5:00PM
Westway MEETING - Keynote Speech International
One of the most iconic figures in global independent cinema, Jim Jarmusch is also known for his deep passion for music. Whether through the soundtracks of his films or as a musician involved in various projects—such as SQÜRL with Carter Logan, or his collaboration with lute player Jozef Van Wissem, which has already produced several albums—music plays a central role in his work.
It is primarily through this musical facet that Jim Jarmusch comes to Westway MEETING to talk with Rodrigo Areias, share stories, discuss the relationship between music and cinema, and perhaps offer words of encouragement to new generations facing uncertainty in the artistic field.
Jim Jarmusch has spanned several generations and is considered a unique global figure in the field of the seventh art, due to his artistic vocabulary and his resistance to a certain avant-garde fragmentation brought about by the film and music industries.
We will have the opportunity to enjoy a highly singular moment in this edition, creating connections between sound and image, history and future, body and dematerialization.
An unmissable masterclass by two independent filmmakers connected by a shared great passion: music.
