FRIDAY 24 APRIL, 9:30 PM
Sons da Liberdade
Centro Cultural Vila Flor hosts, on April 24, 2026, at 9:30 PM, in the Grande Auditório Francisca Abreu, the concert “Sounds of Freedom”, promoted by the Municipality of Guimarães.
The performance features Banda da Sociedade Musical de Pevidém and the Coro da Liberdade, under the artistic and musical direction of Vasco Silva de Faria and choir direction by Marisa Oliveira.
Following the Revolution of April 25, 1974, the approval of the 1976 Constitution marked the path towards democracy, in a context of intense cultural transformation. Music played a central role during this period, fostering the encounter between protest song and fado, symbolised by the 1976 Song Festival. This dialogue helped renew Portuguese music and affirm a new cultural identity in the post-revolution period.
