AFRO SAL.OYÁ
Yoko Ono says, “Sound is the expression of the soul; it is the bridge that connects the mind and the heart.” AFRO SAL.OYÁ is a performance that is almost a pop-ritualistic concert by an Afro-saloia artist who grew up in an African rural suburb on the outskirts of Lisbon. It is an exploration of sound and its impact on the body, lived experiences, and memory, delving into sounds that heal and provoke. It intertwines frequencies, original mantras, sounds of nature, sounds of African and European languages, the sounds of bodily movement, dance, and silence. Through sonic narratives, the artist reflects on her multicultural identity, incorporating her crossings into a space between reality and fiction, where in each performance the final score differs according to the audience present.
