La Distance
2077. As humanity struggles to survive amid economic hardship and the consequences of climate change, part of the population lives in exile on Mars. Back on Earth, a father strives to maintain a relationship with his daughter, who has left for the Red Planet.
"La Distance" is an intimate story set against the vastness of the cosmos. Through this dystopian—yet far from improbable—setting, Tiago Rodrigues explores both the consequences of our choices and the possibility of communication across generations. He places two worlds face to face, imagining their dialogue in orbit as a series of very, very, very long-distance calls.
For this production, he is joined by actors Adama Diop and Alison Dechamps, who perform within a rotating interplanetary device, like two celestial bodies bound to their respective orbits, at times drawing closer, at times drifting apart.
