MAFALDA's new album is an ode to life and to the capacity for renewal. It portrays the metamorphosis of someone emerging from the emptiness of sorrow and moving towards tomorrow. Gosto Muito de Estar Aqui is the debut album released under the name MAFALDA, performed entirely in Portuguese and exploring themes such as identity, belonging and personal transformation. The result of a creative process developed in collaboration with artist André Júlio Turquesa, the album also features musician Iúri Oliveira and other guest artists.
MAFALDA, the stage name of singer, songwriter and author Mafalda Costa, is one of the most magnetic and distinctive voices in the new Portuguese music scene. Marked by a rare poetic sensibility and a deeply expressive vocal delivery, she has built an independent career defined by authenticity and by an exploration of sounds that bring together contemporary folk and alternative pop. Her songwriting is characterised by a thoughtful, melancholic gaze upon everyday life and human relationships.
