The partnership between Guimarães Jazz and ESMAE, unanimously regarded as a leading institution in jazz education in Portugal, has established itself over the years as one of the festival’s core projects, providing its audiences with countless moments of outstanding musical quality. Launched in its current format in 2012, the project once again proposes a residency and collaborative process involving students and members of the ESMAE Orchestra and a group of international musicians with significant bodies of work in the field of jazz. In 2024, this residency will be led by New York pianist Lex Korten, accompanied by the members of his multinational quintet: Nicola Caminiti on saxophone, Sabeth Pérez on vocals, Adam Olszewski on double bass, and Miguel Russell on drums.
