The Synchronization of Diversity
Periods of major cultural and social transformation demand complex movements from human choreography, movements that must be reinvented. This reinvention and experimentalism, aimed at projecting the future, have accelerated, even though there is a sense that the future itself has now become an outdated idea, surpassed by the vertigo of dematerialization.
In this GUIdance, we address the importance of the body, its representation as a technology of the future, and the implications of a set of revolutions synchronized in time, which affect our cognitive power and the construction of community life.
In its 15th edition, we bring back the grandeur of past presences (Akram Khan, Marie Chouinard, Olga Roriz, Tânia Carvalho), which highlight the relevance of investing in relationships and in the materials that shape our humanism. We also open space for the discovery of other voices (Janet Novás, Ermira Goro), so that reinvention and experimentalism may offer us new ways of thinking and feeling, as a possibility for the growth of all our differences.
The synchronization of diversity is now a process that challenges our evolution, and there is no better way to channel this revolution of different wills than through dance, and through stories that can bring understanding to our days and empathy to our gaze.
The journey will be intense, as in previous editions, but the expressive manifestation of art and the many forms of human imagination will make this GUIdance a vast, sensitive field and an invitation to the possibility of synchronizing improbable things.
So let us dance, in synchrony, in honor of the difference that defines us.
